MIXER’S CONTRIBUTION TO CHEMISTRY AND TRAINING IN THIS SCIENTIFIC FIELD HONOURED WITH A PLAQUE

The University of Alcalá de Henares honours Mixer with a plaque in gratitude for its contribution to chemistry and training in this scientific field.

To mark the festival of Saint Albert the Great, the patron saint of chemists, the University of Alcalá de Henares presented a plaque in the auditorium of the historic university in recognition of the perfume developer and manufacturer’s contribution to chemistry and training in this specific scientific field.

Given the close professional collaboration and shared research initiatives between the university and the manufacturer, and to mark the festival of Saint Albert the Great, the Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Environmental Sciences and Chemistry, supported by the Rector of the University of Alcalá de Henares, awarded the plaque to Mixer in recognition of its contribution to chemistry and training in this specific scientific field.

The ceremony took place in the historic auditorium of the University of Alcalá de Henares. After words of welcome from the university’s Rector and the Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Environmental Sciences and Chemistry, the academic Dr Nazario Martín León, lecturer in organic chemistry at the Complutense University of Madrid, gave a lecture on the subject: “Celebrating the achievements of chemistry and the 150th anniversary of the birth of Marie Curie”.

After the lecture, certificates were presented and scholarships awarded to graduates and doctoral graduates of the chemical sciences from the academic year 2016-2017. Then, and of particular relevance, the Extraordinary Chemistry Degree Awards for the academic year 2016-2017 were presented, followed by the Extraordinary Chemistry Doctorate Awards for the academic year 2014-2015.

Finally, in recognition of Mixer & Pack’s special achievements, the executive management team of the perfume and cosmetic developer and manufacturer for third parties in attendance at the ceremony stepped up to receive a plaque in recognition of the company’s training initiatives and contribution to the field of chemistry throughout its history.

The plaque was accepted by Mr Agustín Gómez Loeches (Mixer & Pack’s Director of Communications), accompanied by Mr Juan Mediavilla (Mixer & Pack’s Managing Director), Mr Juan del Sarro (Technical Director) and Mr Juan Manuel Mosquera, Head of Human Resources.

The ceremony ended with a flourish with a performance from the University of Alcalá de Henares Choir in the idyllic setting of the university auditorium, a renowned theatre which hosts the Cervantes Prize-giving ceremony and an increasingly limited number of other select events.
